All About Franchising: the Pros & Cons

Have you ever thought about jumping on the franchise wagon and riding it all the way to the bank? Before you do, attend
the presentation “All About Franchising: the Pros and Cons” at the Hudson Library & Historical Society on Wednesday,
October 14th at 7 p.m. This event is part of the Burton D. Morgan Center for Entrepreneurship Research’s Fall 2009
Entrepreneurship Series.

Amy Shepherd, partner with the law firm Baker & Hostetler, LLC, will explain the history of franchise operations, state and
federal regulations, compliance and costs associated with both starting and maintaining a franchise, and common issues
franchisors face with franchisees.

Ms. Shepherd has extensive experience in general corporate and business matters. She is experienced in representing both
public and private companies in connection with negotiating and structuring mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, sales of
businesses and assets, various forms of financing arrangements and other transactions. She is a Securities, Opinion and
Audit Letter Review Partner of the Baker & Hostetler firm and is a member of the Ohio State and Columbus Bar Associations.
In addition, Ms. Shepherd has recently been
selected for inclusion in the 2010 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.
