Hudson rabbi to host film showing
at library
Filmmaker
Naftaly Gliksberg’s acclaimed film, Look Into My Eyes: Underlying
Anti-Semitism, will be screened at
7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Hudson Library & Historical Society. Rabbi
Sheldon Ezring, leader of Hudson’s Temple
Beth Shalom, will lead a discussion following the showing.
In the film,
Gliksberg
investigates what anti-Semitism looks like today, crossing two
continents to see how people react
to direct questions about their attitudes toward Jews, Israel and
the notion that there is such a thing as anti-Semitism.
The film was featured at the International Human Rights Film
Festival in New York City last June, as well as at other film
festivals around the country.
Rabbi Ezring
says the topic continues to be relevant in today’s world for both
Jews and others.
“I’d like to
have an open discussion on the continuing effects of anti-Semitism
on the life of the modern Jew,” Ezring
says. “What are the main types of anti-Semitism? Is being anti-Israel
synonymous with being anti-Semitic? Does the
threat hold the same power in the Jewish community today that it did
in the past?”
The free
event is part of Siegal College’s Hodesh Limud (month of Jewish
learning) program. For more information
call the library at 330-653-6658, ext. 1010, or visit the library’s
